Spain Second Rehearsal

People are getting very excited about Spain's return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and Melani Garcia is the reason why.

Spain had a stranglehold on this competition in its first four years, but have been absent ever since. Their return is full of promise with many commentators predicting a podium placing. The environmental movement takes on an aquatic theme, threaded through the lyrics ("there's plastic in my waves"), costume, staging and lighting. Melani's operatic pedigree (she has released Andrea Bocceli, Montserrat Caballe and Luciano Pavarotti songs previously) shines through with some glass-shattering high notes in Marte.

Spain will be hoping for a top four finish to match their previous results from the 00s, which included a win in 2004 and two second places.

David Webster will be reporting live from rehearsals throughout the day on Gateway 97.8 ( For UK commentary with ESC Insight's Ewan Spence and Ben Robertson, tune in to Castlepoint FM on Sunday 24th November from 15:00 GMT.
